Popular Nigerian comedian and preacher, Woli Arole, has explained why he deliberately keeps his family life away from social media, stressing that marriage is about companionship and commitment, not online validation.

The entertainer made this known while responding to a fan who questioned why he rarely shares photos or updates about his wife and family on his social media platforms. In his response, Arole made it clear that his decision is intentional and rooted in his personal values and beliefs about marriage and privacy.

According to Woli Arole, he did not get married for the purpose of posting his relationship online or seeking public attention. He emphasised that marriage should be enjoyed privately, without the pressure of constantly putting one’s personal life on display for social media consumption.

“I didn’t marry for POSTING, I married for COMPANIONSHIP!!!!!!!! Not everything about your life should be PUBLIC Abeg!!!! What if there was no social MEDIA, won’t you LIVE!!!!!” he wrote.

The comedian-turned-preacher further questioned the growing obsession with documenting every aspect of life online, noting that many people now measure happiness and success by how much attention they receive on social media.

He argued that such an approach can be unhealthy and distract couples from the true essence of marriage.

Arole’s statement underscores his belief that personal relationships, especially marriage, should be protected from unnecessary public scrutiny.

He maintained that the value of marriage lies in shared moments, mutual respect and genuine companionship, rather than likes, comments or public approval.

The cleric has often spoken about relationships, family and faith, using his platform to promote values he believes are essential for healthy marriages.

He has consistently advised couples to set boundaries and avoid external pressures that could negatively impact their union.

His remarks have since sparked conversations online, with many social media users applauding his stance on privacy.

Supporters agreed that keeping family life off social media can help reduce pressure, comparison and unnecessary interference from outsiders. Others also noted that not everything needs to be shared publicly to be meaningful or valid.

However, some users argued that sharing family moments online can be harmless if done in moderation. Despite differing opinions, Arole’s message resonated with many who believe that privacy is becoming increasingly rare in the digital age.

Woli Arole’s position serves as a reminder that social media should not dictate how people live their lives or define the success of their relationships. For him, marriage remains a sacred bond built on companionship, understanding and love, not online visibility.
