Wike Mentions Condition to Resign as FCT Minister Amid Tinubu’s Presidency

According to NewsVista, the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, has dropped a political bombshell, accusing Judith Amaechi — wife of former transportation minister Rotimi Amaechi — of receiving ₦48 billion from the federal government under a controversial scheme.

Wike made the explosive claim during a Channels TV interview on Friday, July 4, where he urged President Bola Tinubu to publicly release the long-suppressed forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), covering the years 2015 to 2022.

He alleged that Judith’s NGO, the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI), received ₦4 billion monthly — a total of ₦48 billion annually — to train women in the Niger Delta, a deal he described as questionable and shrouded in corruption.

“Amaechi’s wife is not an industrialist,” Wike said bluntly. “Let Mr President release the audit report. If what I’ve said isn’t in it, I’ll resign as FCT Minister.”

He further claimed that former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami suppressed the audit findings to shield those involved.

The allegation follows Amaechi’s own media appearance, where he described his wife as a fabric-trading industrialist — a title Wike dismissed as misleading.

As Wike challenges the presidency and calls out his political rival’s family, the fallout from this feud could stir fresh scrutiny on the NDDC and its multi-billion naira history.
