According to NewsVista, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has fired back at his predecessor Rotimi Amaechi for calling his wife an industrialist. Wike described the claim as misleading and disrespectful to Nigerians’ intelligence.
Speaking on Politics Today on Channels TV, Wike questioned how trading automatically qualifies someone as an industrialist. “If I’m selling water or rice, that doesn’t mean I produce them,” he argued. “Amaechi’s wife is a trader, not an industrialist. Let’s not insult Nigerians.”
The FCT Minister emphasized that he respects women and would never use his wife as a topic for public validation. “I don’t think Amaechi truly loves his wife — you don’t drag your wife into politics like that,” he added.
Wike also reflected on his political journey with Amaechi, revealing that he risked everything to help Amaechi become Rivers State governor in 2007. “I invested my life in making him governor, yet he turned around thinking he was doing me a favour,” he said.
Their longstanding feud, which began after Amaechi handed over to Wike in 2015, continues to stir political drama both in Rivers State and at the national level.
