Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has opened up about her heartbreak over being unable to cook for less privileged children, reaching out to the public for their advice on how to continue her charitable work.

Known for her regular acts of kindness, Martins has spent years preparing meals for street children, bringing smiles to their faces through her food outreach programs. However, her recent efforts have been disrupted after operatives of Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) reportedly stopped her from cooking for the kids.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Martins expressed the emotional toll of the situation. She wrote, “It has not been easy on my side. I’ve been acting strong, but I’m tired of being strong. It breaks my heart to see these kids constantly yearning for my meals. They crowd me with every opportunity and constantly question me why I haven’t been cooking for them. I miss cooking for them, and it breaks my heart that the constant smiles I brought to their faces were cut short and getting a space as instructed by Mr Seyi and friends has not been easy. I’m working so hard and praying even harder to get a conducive space as soon as possible because bringing smiles to their faces brings me immense joy and satisfaction. Should I cook from my house for now, pending when I get a space????? I need your opinions on this, my lovers.”

Martins’ Instagram plea comes after she allegedly suffered an assault by uniformed KAI officials while cooking for street children. In a video shared online, she revealed a bruised hand, expressing deep disappointment over the officers’ handling of her charitable activity. She admitted that cooking on the walkway might not have been ideal but criticized the operatives for confiscating a large cooler of rice meant for approximately 200 children, leaving them disappointed and traumatized.

Despite the setback, Martins’ efforts have attracted significant support. She disclosed that Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, gifted her N20 million and promised to take her charity outreach to the next level. Earlier, she had received N1 million from Cubana Chief Priest’s wife to support her mission, which left her speechless and grateful.

The actress also shared touching experiences of support from ordinary well-wishers. In one instance, someone reached out via direct message to applaud her work and personally delivered a bag of rice and other food items to encourage her to keep going. These gestures have reinforced her belief that her work brings joy not just to the children, but also to her own life.

Reflecting on the impact of her charity, Martins said, “God has constantly brought different people into my life to put smiles on my face, just as I put smiles on the faces of others.”

As she continues to search for a suitable space to resume her outreach programs, Martins remains determined to bring happiness to the children who eagerly await her meals. Her public appeal underscores her commitment to her cause and the emotional connection she shares with the kids she serves.

Sarah Martins’ story serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by philanthropists on the ground, even as their work continues to inspire and touch the lives of those in need.
