Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has stepped in to clarify misconceptions surrounding her colleague Regina Daniels and alleged drug use.
On Instagram, Doris defended the younger actress, stating that Regina was merely protecting herself and does not engage in drug use. She described the circulating narrative as a possible attempt to pressure Daniels back into what she called an abusive and toxic marriage.
“She was clearly defending herself. You said I do drugs. Yes, I do drugs, is that enough reason to arrest my family? This is looking like a blackmail to bring her back to an abusive and toxīc marriage. Make it make sense,” Doris wrote. She further emphasized, “Regina did not admit to doing drugs. This is a clear case of obsession; you must marry me. Haba nau. What kind of thing is this? This girl has cried out that she’s being abused, and you still want her to go back after allegedly stating that she’s being injected and experiencing forceful penetration. And you still want her to come back. Haba nau. Give the little girl a break. At least let her cool off her head. Her brother is still in prison, yet you want them to come back. Nawa.”
Regina Daniels herself responded to her estranged husband, Ned Nwoko, highlighting the irony in his public call for her to seek rehab, while alleging he had encouraged her to use drugs because it made her appear “sexier, wild, and romantic.” She accused Nwoko of coercion and control, stating, “Tell the world how you always forced yourself on me, locked me up, seized my phones, and suddenly declared me mentally unstable the moment I said I no longer want to be in the relationship.”
In a separate post, Daniels admitted to using drugs, clarifying it was under her husband’s influence. She questioned whether she had ever been on drugs when she married Ned at 17.
The controversy began after Daniels alleged she suffered domestic abuse in her marriage to Nwoko. A viral video showed the actress in tears, stating that she was not treated like a queen in her husband’s home.
In response, Nwoko publicly attributed the conflict to Daniels’ “battle with drugs and alcohol abuse,” claiming that his attempts to provide professional help were met with resistance. The senator also accused Daniels of violent behavior at home, including assaulting domestic staff and damaging property.
