Africa’s brightest young achievers took centre stage on Sunday night as the 19th edition of The Future Awards Africa unfolded at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, honouring innovators, leaders, and creatives shaping the continent’s future.

With the theme “Threads of Legacy,” the 2025 ceremony spotlighted excellence across multiple fields — from technology and governance to arts, entrepreneurship, and sports — in a celebration that emphasized youth impact and vision.

The event, hosted by Nollywood actor Mike Afolarin and media personality Azeezah Hashim, gathered an impressive lineup of celebrities, business leaders, and public figures for an evening that blended class with purpose.

Among the standout winners, Mariam “Taaooma” Apaokagi earned the Prize for Content Creation, while Super Falcons forward Rasheedat Ajibade was honoured with the Prize for Sports for her consistent performance and leadership in women’s football.

Comedy icon Ali Baba received the Honorary Prize for Service to Young People, a tribute to his decades-long influence and mentorship in the entertainment industry.

The night’s biggest moment came when Fola David, a medical doctor and visual artist renowned for using creativity to inspire social change, was crowned Young Person of the Year — drawing a standing ovation from the audience.
