I Started Drinking, Smoking, Masturbating At 13 – Tonto Dikeh [Video]

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has shared a personal testimony of her transformation.

Tonto Dikeh revealed that God delivered her from smoking, alcohol, masturbation, and long-standing anger issues during a Sunday service at Streams of Joy International Church.

In a video shared on YouTube by DCLImagery, the actress spoke at the church’s New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations service, led by Pastor Jerry Eze.

She said her struggles began at age 13, when she started smoking, and continued for years with alcohol and sexual issues, but she credited her deliverance to God.

“I smoked since I was 13. God healed me from masturbation, too. I have known myself to have sexual intercourse in the dream ever since I was a child,” she said.

Dikeh described going to the altar as both an act of gratitude and a testimony, admitting that she almost didn’t attend out of concern for her public image.

The devil tried to tell me that I was supposed to protect my image. But I told myself, what image? The God that gave me the image is the same God that can take it away,” she said.

The actress said her spiritual breakthrough began after attending the Ghana Prayer Conference, which helped her overcome what she called ‘years of spiritual oppression.”

“I realised that the weak man who held me captive all my years in my dream ran away,” she said, adding that the experience marked a turning point in her spiritual life.

The actress also spoke about battling intense anger that had affected her personal relationships.

An anger that destroyed my life. Everybody had to feel it. But praying with NSPPD, God took all of those away and gave me peace,” she said.

Dikeh added that she had never experienced real peace until now, saying, “I am 40 years old, and I can tell you I have never known peace until now. I am living in it.”

She also reflected on her smoking habit, which lasted 27 years and began due to her father’s influence, urging parents to be mindful of the habits their children are exposed to.

“I started smoking because my dad was a smoker. Something as little as that habit can inhabit the lives of your children,” she said.

After seeking divine help, the actress said she no longer feels urges for cigarettes or alcohol.

“I will tell you parents: If you are a smoker or if you do something as a parent that is not right, keep it away from your children.

“The first thing the Holy Spirit did for me is to be ashamed of it. I started becoming ashamed of it. God, took this away. I became ashamed of the smell.”

On masturbation, she said God had healed her from it,  adding, “My body does not ask for it. My body is repelling it. Today, it is broken.”

Pastor Eze prayed for Tonto Dikeh during the service, declaring that “the body of sin is broken” and calling her “a voice in her generation.”

Sharing photos from the church on Instagram, Dikeh captioned them: “A living testimony of mercy. One God spared, restored, and commissioned.”
