According to our report, Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to detained IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has issued a strong message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, warning that continued detention of Kanu could cost the ruling government massive political support from the Southeast.
Speaking in a video shared on the Official SYMFONI YouTube Channel, Ejimakor declared:
“If Tinubu does not free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, he can forget the vote of the people of the Southeast.”
Ejimakor, who was recently detained following a protest, said Kanu’s case has gone beyond legal arguments — it has become a political and emotional demand that reflects the mood of millions of Nigerians in the Southeast.
He stressed that the power to end the crisis lies with the executive arm, not the courts, insisting that only Tinubu’s political will can bring true closure. “The buck stops at the President’s table,” he said, citing constitutional powers that allow the Attorney General to halt prosecution.
Ejimakor described his two-day detention as a painful experience, alleging it revealed deeper ethnic and political bias in how justice is administered in Nigeria.
He concluded that freeing Nnamdi Kanu is no longer just a legal matter but a test of national unity and fairness.
