Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, has affirmed that the detained IPOB leader is of sound mind and fully conscious of his actions.
In an exclusive interview with Symfoni TV, Ejimakor said, “He’s a well-educated man with his mind intact; he’s fully aware of what he’s doing.” He stressed that Kanu’s decisions are driven by intellectual and moral conviction, not external pressure or manipulation.
Ejimakor highlighted Kanu’s mental resilience and determination despite years of incarceration, noting that he consistently demonstrates clarity, logic, and passion for justice. He rejected claims that Kanu’s agitation for self-determination is reckless, emphasizing that Kanu’s approach is legal, constitutional, and peaceful, focused on fairness and justice.
The lawyer accused critics of misrepresenting Kanu’s intentions to justify his continued detention, pointing out that courts in Nigeria and abroad have ruled in Kanu’s favor multiple times, yet the government has ignored these decisions.
Ejimakor concluded by urging President Bola Tinubu to release Kanu, asserting that such a move would foster trust and reconciliation between the federal government and the Southeast.
