Restaurant workers who allegedly ass@ulted Lagos environmental taskforce officials arraigned for attempted m$rder, remanded till January 28 2026

A Magistrate court sitting at Bolade, Oshodi in Lagos state have ordered the remand of eight staff of Yakoyo Abula Joint in Sinari Adaranijo Street in Victoria Island who allegedly attacked the enforcement officers of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) while on official duty with LSWMO.

 

The accused were arraigned before the Magistrate Court for attempted murder.  When the charge was read to them, they pled not guilty and were remanded in correctional centre till 28 Jan 2026 awaiting DPP’s advice.  

 

The accused persons include Ibiwunmi Oladunjoye – 30yrs (F), Sikiru Oyelami – 45yrs, Aja Daniel- 29yrs, Sanusi Abayomi – 31yrs, Timothy Emmanuel- 22yrs, Ajoke Adegoke – 24yrs (F), Sulaimon Akinbola- 28yrs and Ridwan Adeshina – 30yrs. No

 

LIB had reported that the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) and Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) also known as KAI, had visited the restaurant on December 10 to enforce environmental standards on the indiscriminate discharge of untreated wastewater, fats and oil into the environment. However, during the enforcement exercise, the restaurant staff allegedly attacked KAI Officers and injured four (4) in the course of the operation.

 

“The Yakoyo restaurant not only broke the government’s seal, they went further to unleash armed thugs on officials who were lawfully carrying out their duties. This crosses every line.”the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, had said
