According to our report, Aloy Ejimakor, lawyer to Nnamdi Kanu, has narrated how activist Omoyele Sowore narrowly escaped arrest during a peaceful protest demanding Kanu’s release.
Ejimakor, who spoke in an interview with SYMFONI TV, revealed that while he and several others were arrested, Sowore managed to slip away in the chaos after police fired tear gas to disperse the crowd.
He explained that security operatives accused them of violating a court order, but insisted that “no such order was ever served.” Ejimakor said Sowore had initiated the protest and that all necessary police approvals were obtained before it began.
According to him, despite court restrictions that only barred protesters from sensitive areas like the Supreme Court, Aso Rock, and National Assembly, the police still stormed the scene near Transcorp Hilton Hotel to make arrests.
Recounting the dramatic moment, Ejimakor said: “Sowore was with me. I don’t know how he managed to escape in that cloud of tear gas. A vehicle stopped, the driver opened the door, and he jumped in. Otherwise, he would have been arrested.”
