Tinubu Instructed Me to Reconcile with Wike, Says Suspended Governor Fubara

The political drama in Rivers State has taken a new turn as Governor Siminalayi Fubara publicly admitted that his reconciliation with former governor Nyesom Wike came at the directive of President Bola Tinubu.

According to a NewsVista reporter, Fubara described the reconciliation as a “bitter and heavy” decision — not one made out of personal desire, but a necessary sacrifice to stabilize Rivers State and move it forward.

Speaking after a high-level meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Fubara revealed that President Tinubu personally instructed him to make peace with Wike in the interest of the state. Despite the deep-rooted tensions between both political figures, the governor acknowledged that stepping back from the feud was the mature and responsible thing to do.

“It wasn’t easy,” Fubara said. “But I had to listen to the President. It was a painful decision, but one I made for the sake of Rivers people.”

Following the meeting, Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), declared that peace had been restored, and that all parties had agreed to work together to promote unity and development in the state.

The reconciliation signals a significant shift in the ongoing power tussle that has destabilized the region’s politics in recent months. President Tinubu’s intervention is being viewed by many as a strategic move to restore calm and ensure steady governance in one of Nigeria’s most economically vital states.

While it remains to be seen how long the truce will last, one thing is clear: the people of Rivers State are watching closely, hoping that this bitter compromise leads to better days ahead.
