Tinubu ordered me to settle with Wike – Fubara

Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu personally instructed him to reconcile with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, amid their long-standing political crisis.

Speaking to his supporters—known as the “Simplified family”—in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Fubara said the directive was given during one of several meetings held to resolve the rift that has destabilized governance in the state since 2023.

“After the meeting we had before May 29th, we’ve had a series of meetings and one of the meetings we had was the one we met with the President, and President Tinubu clearly said, ‘I want you and your oga to settle,’” Fubara disclosed.

The feud between Fubara and Wike began shortly after the governor assumed office and escalated to the point where President Tinubu declared a six-month state of emergency in Rivers State and suspended all elected officials, including Fubara himself.

Although a peace deal was brokered by Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja days ago—with both parties publicly agreeing to work together—Fubara admitted that the reconciliation was not easy.

He described the peace accord as “bitter and heavy” but said it was a “necessary sacrifice” for the sake of stability and progress in the state.

“We must accept this peace for the sake of our state’s development,” he told his followers, urging them to remain committed to the greater good despite lingering tensions.
