“When your life is all alone and you have nobody to talk to, it becomes easier to backslide”-Kumuyi

Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has highlighted marriage as a vital safeguard against loneliness, depression, and spiritual backsliding.

In a recent sermon streamed on YouTube, Pastor Kumuyi encouraged singles and church leaders to prioritise marriage for emotional, spiritual, and moral stability. “To avoid loneliness, let every man have his own wife and every woman have her own husband,” he said. “When your life is all alone and you have nobody to counsel you, nobody to relate with, nobody to talk to, it becomes easier to backslide.”

The cleric also addressed growing concerns around mental health, warning that depression can lead to extreme consequences, including suicide. He advised, “To avoid depression, have somebody you can talk to, have somebody you are married to, have somebody you can relate with.” He stressed that marriage provides emotional support, companionship, and a stable environment for spiritual growth.

Pastor Kumuyi urged church marriage committees to consider companionship over societal norms when older singles seek remarriage. He noted that widows and widowers in their 60s often face unnecessary scrutiny, yet their need for emotional support and security is legitimate. “Not really, but I feel lonely. Not really, but I feel all alone and insecure,” he explained, emphasizing that marriage addresses more than just procreation or avoiding sin.

Concluding the message, he prayed for divine guidance for leaders and members to act righteously in marital matters. Extra insights, videos, and photos from the sermon are available on Newshost Buzz for those looking for a deeper perspective on his teachings.
