In a recent YouTube video, prominent Nigerian cleric Primate Elijah Ayodele asserted that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, will not become president in 2027. Addressing his followers, Ayodele emphasized that regardless of the support Obi garners, he is not meant to lead Nigeria.
“Obi will never be president in 2027,” Ayodele asserted. “Obi, forget it. Even with a billion supporters, it won’t alter what God has decreed.”
The cleric further warned that if Obi were to lead, the country would experience unprecedented chaos. He claimed that Nigeria would be thrown into severe disorder under his leadership.
“If Obi governed this country, it would be turned upside down a million times over,” Ayodele stated. “God has not granted him the authority. He may reach that position, but there will be confusion. He is not the solution for Nigerians.”
Ayodele’s comments come as political dynamics begin shifting in anticipation of the 2027 general elections. The Labour Party, buoyed by Obi’s performance in 2023, seeks to establish itself as a formidable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Despite finishing third in the 2023 presidential race, Obi maintains strong backing from his youthful supporters, known as the “Obidient Movement.”
Nonetheless, Ayodele contended that popularity alone won’t secure a political win for Obi. “The number of supporters doesn’t matter; he hasn’t been given the power,” he affirmed.
His statements reflect his history of political prophecies, which often provoke debate within Nigeria’s political and religious communities. These remarks are likely to intensify discussions regarding the country’s political landscape and the future of emerging opposition figures.
