23-Year-Old Adoration Zenzekile Divorces Husband After One Month, Blames Toxic Mother-in-Law

A 23-year-old woman, Adoration Zenzekile, has shocked many by announcing the end of her marriage just four weeks after tying the knot.

In a heartfelt statement shared on Facebook and TikTok, Adoration revealed that her marriage to Nhlamulo collapsed due to “irreconcilable differences” that began during their engagement in 2023 and worsened after their wedding.

The young divorcee accused her former mother-in-law of mistreatment and said her ex-husband failed to stand up for her, leaving her to endure a toxic family environment.

Adoration addressed false claims by Nhlamulo, who alleged she cheated. “The claim that I cheated is completely untrue and baseless,” she wrote. “I suffered disrespect and belittling behaviour from his mother. Living in the same yard as his parents made things worse, and he chose to prioritise his relationship with her over our marriage.” She added that when she left to protect herself, Nhlamulo shifted blame onto her, using infidelity as an excuse.

The young woman’s emotional post, accompanied by a TikTok video with the words “Your marriage only lasted a month, now you’re 23 & divorced,” has sparked widespread support online.

Nigerians have rallied behind her, praising her courage to walk away from a toxic situation. “You did the right thing by leaving that place,” wrote Matimba Nxumalo.

Lusanda Gumede added, “May God protect you and punish those who hurt you. This is beyond dehumanizing.” Others, like Naledi Manana Malatjie, sent “love and light,” urging Adoration to prioritise her sanity.
