A Nigerian woman, identified as Nneka Obani, has shared her perspective on managing domestic workers effectively to ensure they stay longer in the household.
According to Obani, commonly known as Lolo Obani, the key to retaining house helps long-term lies in maintaining a strictly professional relationship and avoiding unnecessary acts of kindness or familiarity.
In a Facebook post, she elaborated on her views:
**”Someone once told me that the only way for you to live comfortably with house help, the only way to make them last long in your house, is by treating them exactly as who they are—house help!
Keep it completely professional. Do not treat them like your friends or sisters. Do not laugh or joke around with them. Pay their salaries as and when due and face your front. Do not give them any preferential treatment or show any form of unnecessary kindness to them, else they will run you street.
A house help is never your friend nor your sibling. Know this and know peace.”**
Her post has sparked a conversation on social media about the best approach to treating domestic workers.
What do you think? Do you agree with her stance?
