Ann has narrated how her husband asked her to get another man to impregnate her after he failed to get her pregnant two years into their marriage.
According to her, she grew up in her grandmother’s house together with her mother. She went to school up to class eight, and when she was about to join secondary school, she was raped by a stranger when she had gone to fetch water. She became pregnant but later had a miscarriage.
She met her husband through her mother, who had told her that the man was going to employ her and had come to pick her up. However, upon arrival, the man told her he wanted her to be his wife and that he had already discussed it with her mother. Since she didn’t want to return to her village, she agreed, and they started living as husband and wife.
Ann says she used to experience bleeding whenever she was intimate with her husband. They stayed married for two years without her conceiving, leading her husband to suggest she find another man to impregnate her. He then took her to his village.
After two weeks in the village, Ann befriended a man, and after a month, they became intimate. She got pregnant. When she realized she was pregnant, she returned to her husband, who was very happy. After nine months, she gave birth to a girl and named her after her husband’s mother. A year later, they visited the village to meet the in-laws, and her husband left her there for some days. During this time, she met the same man who had impregnated her previously. They became intimate again, and she got pregnant.
Ann says her husband was initially upset when she told him she was pregnant again by the same man, but he later accepted it. However, when she was four months pregnant, her husband slept with her, causing her to start bleeding.
She confided in her grandmother about her problems, and her grandmother sought advice from the clan elders. The elders suggested that her husband might have been intimate with her mother, which could be the cause of her bleeding. When confronted, her mother confessed to having been intimate with him before he married Ann.
Ann says she left the marriage with her two children and now lives in a small rented house with them.
