Prominent sociopolitical activist Aisha Yesufu has criticised the Federal Government’s decision to rename the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The centre, recently renovated under the supervision of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, was officially renamed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre.
Wike justified the decision by stating that the facility had become an eyesore and embarrassment to Nigeria before the international community, blaming its previous state on poor management by its former handlers.
Reacting to the development on her X (formerly Twitter) account, Yesufu strongly condemned the move, suggesting that the President was driven by insecurity and a desire for self-glorification.
“Tinubu has poverty mentality and abandonment issue. This is not normal,” she posted.
The renaming has sparked mixed reactions across social media platforms, with critics like Yesufu questioning the motive behind dedicating national landmarks to sitting presidents.
