Moment Pope Leo XIV hugs young girl during his visit to Cameroon (video)

 

A video showing the moment Pope Leo XIV hugging a little girl after the close of Mass in Bamenda, Cameroon on Thursday April 16, has warmed the hearts of many.

 

Pope Leo XIV is conducting an 11-day, four-nation apostolic visit to Africa (April 13–23, 2026), focusing on peace, interfaith dialogue, and supporting the growing Catholic community. His key stops include a historic visit to Algeria—the first by a pope to the Muslim-majority nation followed by Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea.

 

While in Cameroon today, a young Cameroonian girl ran toward the pope just as he was about to enter his vehicle  to leave for the airport.

 

The Pope immediately paused and warmly embraced the child. He then posed for a photo with her before presenting her with a Rosary.

 

The video has warmed the hearts of many across the world.
