Media personality Daddy Freeze has stepped into the ongoing conversation surrounding the separation between Roby Ekpo and his former wife Mayowa Lambe, offering his perspective on what he believes may have contributed to the breakdown of their relationship and the broader issue of relocation in marriages.
During a recent commentary, Daddy Freeze focused on the decision that saw Mayowa travel abroad, suggesting that such moves, when not done as a family unit, can create emotional distance that becomes difficult to repair. He expressed the view that couples should prioritize staying together physically when making major life transitions like relocation.
He didn’t hold back in sharing his thoughts on the matter, saying:
“My wife can never wake up one day and tell me that she wants to JAPA. I blame Roby for allowing Mayowa to travel to The US. If you cannot relocate with your family, don’t bother relocating. If I don’t love my wife and I have been looking for a way to leave her, it’s either I go abroad or I send her abroad. We will drift apart naturally”.
He went on to explain that, in his opinion, separation through relocation often weakens emotional connection over time, even when there is no initial intention for the relationship to fail. He suggested that distance can slowly change the dynamics between partners until they become strangers.
Daddy Freeze also broadened his comments to touch on migration trends and how people secure residency in foreign countries. He claimed that marriage is frequently used as a pathway for relocation, and he tied this belief to the situation being discussed.
He stated:
“90% of people abroad got their papers through marriage. Mayowa is an example. Roby said she married to get papers. I can never marry anybody for papers neither will I allow my wife. Are we suffering? America is even hyped. It is easier to go to Canada than America. I know many people in America now that are struggling financially”.
His intervention has since triggered mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with his views on keeping families together during relocation, while others pushed back, arguing that he made sweeping generalizations about migration and marriage.
