According to a report by Nigerian Tribune, on Tuesday April 21, 2026, President Bola Tinubu’s chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, has urged Representative Leke Abejide to fortify his political network by staying in the African Democratic Congress.
He made the comments in a video that has since gone popular online; in it, he lauded Abejide as an honest and dedicated politician, told him not to leave ADC for the All Progressives Congress, and suggested that he strengthen his position there.
He recommended Abejide to face internal party resistance, fortify his base, and recruit allies to create a stronger organization, and to win re-election on the ADC platform rather than leaving the party he had worked so hard to build.
“No one should be allowed to take over a political structure built through personal commitment,” he said, adding that Abejide should keep fighting for what he believes in and that he will succeed if he is consistent.
I know you to be a dedicated party guy, Honourable Abejide. Trust me when I say you’re a fighter. You are someone who does not tolerate deceit, as far as I am aware.
So please, my charge to you is to stay in ADC. Fight them. Scatter them. We like what you are doing. Continue,” he said.
