Afrobeats star Ruger has revealed a missed opportunity that still lingers in his mind, opening up about how he unknowingly passed on a potential movie role offered by Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele.

During a recent interview, the singer explained that he only discovered much later that Akindele had reached out to him via social media, expressing interest in featuring him in one of her film projects.

Unfortunately, by the time he came across the message, it was already too late, and the role had been given to someone else.

Ruger admitted that the situation left him disappointed, especially because he has always had an interest in exploring opportunities beyond music.

While he is widely known for his success in the Afrobeats scene, the singer hinted that acting is something he would like to try if the right opportunity comes along.

According to him, missing that message was not intentional, but it turned out to be a costly oversight. He described it as one of those moments that remind him how quickly opportunities can come and go in the entertainment industry.

Despite the setback, Ruger maintained that he remains open to stepping into Nollywood in the future. However, he was also honest about the challenges that come with acting, particularly the demanding nature of film production. He noted that long hours on set might not suit his personality, as he prefers a more flexible creative process.

Still, he emphasized that he would be willing to commit if the role is compelling enough. For Ruger, the deciding factor would be whether the character allows him to fully express himself and bring something unique to the screen.

His revelation has sparked reactions from fans, many of whom encouraged him not to give up on acting.

Some also pointed out how common it is for celebrities to miss important messages due to the overwhelming number of notifications they receive daily.

The story also highlights the growing connection between Nigeria’s music and film industries, where collaborations between artists and filmmakers are becoming more frequent. With his popularity and stage presence, many believe Ruger could transition successfully into acting if he chooses to pursue it seriously.

For now, the singer continues to focus on his music career, but his comments suggest that a move into Nollywood is still very much on the table.
