You Cried For Amupitan To Resign But Now You Have Finance, Housing & Power Resigning

Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has taken a swipe at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) amid the ongoing controversy involving the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Sani’s remarks come against the backdrop of calls by some ADC stakeholders for the resignation of INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, over alleged partisanship following the commission’s decision to derecognise David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as party leaders.

Reacting on his X handle on Thursday, Sani mocked the calls for Amupitan’s resignation, linking them to the recent resignation of key government officials, including the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing.

Using a satirical tone, the former lawmaker suggested that those who prayed for Amupitan’s removal may have received a different kind of “answer.”

“Imams and pastors preach that the Lord can answer your prayers in different ways because He knows what is best for you; like you cried and prayed for Amupitan to resign, and now you have Finance, Housing and Power ministers resigning—triple blessings,” Sani wrote.

His comments have sparked reactions online, with some interpreting them as political sarcasm, while others see it as part of the ongoing exchanges between opposition figures and critics over the role of INEC in Nigeria’s political landscape.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the ADC or INEC regarding Sani’s remarks. Read_More…
