Police Hospital announces temporary closure of key units for fumigation exercise

The Ghana Police Hospital in Accra has announced a temporary closure of several key departments to allow for a scheduled fumigation exercise aimed at maintaining hygiene and improving infection control within the facility.

According to management, the exercise forms part of routine public health and safety measures designed to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

The affected units include the Eye Clinic, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Specialist Consulting Rooms, Maternity and Labour Ward, Female Ward, Male Ward, and Theatre services.

In a notice issued by the hospital, the public has been informed that no new admissions will be received into the affected departments during the fumigation period. This is to allow for effective decongestion and smooth execution of the exercise.

Management has therefore advised patients and the general public to seek alternative medical care at other health facilities during the temporary closure period.

The hospital assured that normal services will resume immediately after the completion of the fumigation exercise and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused.

The move is part of ongoing efforts by health authorities to strengthen infection prevention and ensure quality healthcare delivery in public medical facilities.
