‎I’m Calling On All Igbos To Vehemently Disassociate From Embarrassing Endorsement Of Tinubu—Eugene Ogu

‎According to a report by Daily Post, on Thursday January 15, 2026, former leader of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Eugene Ogu, has advised the Igbo people against backing the All Progressives Congress (APC) unless pro-Biafra activist Nnamdi Kanu is freed.

‎Ogu spoke out after some South-East politicians endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 elections, he criticized the move, saying it does not reflect the true interests of the Igbo community.

‎The remarks follow the release of 70 convicted bandits by the Katsina State government as part of efforts to promote peace, while authorities called it a reconciliation measure, the decision has sparked criticism nationwide.

‎Ogu accused South-East leaders of neglecting the welfare of their people, he said ensuring Kanu’s release should be a top priority before offering support to the ruling party.

‎He urged Igbo citizens, both in Nigeria and abroad, to distance themselves from the endorsement and encouraged groups, professionals, students, traders, and youths to reject the decision made by politicians he described as self-serving.

‎The cleric warned that supporting APC without addressing Kanu’s situation could bring harm to the Igbo people and damage the region’s unity and stated that political leaders must act in the genuine interest of their communities rather than personal or party gains.

‎“I am calling on all Igbo associations, professionals, men, women, traders, students, youths and transporters, at home and abroad, to vehemently disassociate themselves from that embarrassing endorsement of Tinubu for a second term by sellout politicians in the South-East,” Ogu said.
