According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, January 17, 2026, Peter Obi, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, on Thursday said he does not own any house or landed property in Abuja, stating clearly, “I don’t have a house in Abuja, I don’t have a land and I’m not preparing to have because I don’t need it.”
He made the disclosure while speaking publicly in the nation’s capital, giving a personal explanation for his long-held decision on property ownership.
The statement was made during a coffee hangout with members of the KayhikersClub in Abuja, where Obi addressed participants on personal discipline, lifestyle choices, and the responsibilities that come with public life.
The gathering provided an informal setting in which he spoke about his approach to managing personal affairs and avoiding distractions that could interfere with focus and well-being.
While speaking further at the event, Obi explained that his decision was based on a deliberate effort to avoid what he described as unnecessary stress that often comes with owning multiple properties.
He linked this approach to how he organizes his life and priorities, saying that simplicity helps him stay healthy and focused, adding, “The more you have all these things the more headache you put on your head, for years I have never been sick, why would I? Because it’s not necessary.”

He said that avoiding assets that require constant management allows him to concentrate on issues he considers more important, including public engagement and personal discipline, according to him, the pressures associated with property ownership can create avoidable challenges.
