Several actors and production teams went home with major awards after months of anticipation from fans and industry watchers. One of the biggest winners of the night was “Colours of Fire,” which secured awards in costume design and art direction.
Valerie Okeke earned recognition for her impressive costume work, while Ajamolaya Bunmi received praise for the film’s creative art direction.
“My Father’s Shadow” also had a successful outing at the ceremony. The movie won the award for best sound and sound design, while Wale Davies emerged winner in the best writing category for movies. The project stood out among viewers and judges for its storytelling and technical delivery.
In the acting categories, Linda Ejiofor enjoyed a memorable night after clinching the award for best supporting actress for her role in “The Herd.” She later returned to the stage to receive another major honour as best lead actress for her performance in “The Serpent’s Gift.” Her double victory became one of the highlights of the evening.
Uzor Arukwe was named best lead actor for his role in “Colours of Fire,” beating several strong contenders in the category. Bucci Franklin also secured a win as best supporting actor for his performance in “To Kill a Monkey.”
The night also recognised indigenous storytelling and local productions. “Lisabi: A Legend Is Born,” produced by Lateef Adedimeji, won the award for best indigenous language film in West Africa. The project received praise for promoting culture and tradition through film.
In the digital category, Emmanuel Kanaga and Sophia Chisom won best digital content creator for “Leave To Live,” showing the growing impact of online creators in Africa’s entertainment industry.
Reality television also got its moment as “Nigerian Idol” emerged winner in the best unscripted series category. The popular music competition defeated other notable reality productions to take home the award.
Special recognition awards were also presented during the ceremony. Actress Uche Montana received the Trailblazer Award for her rising influence in the movie industry. Veteran stars Sola Sobowale and Kanayo O. Kanayo were honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their contributions to Nollywood over the years.
The ceremony attracted top celebrities, filmmakers, producers, and entertainers from across Africa, with fans celebrating winners across social media throughout the night.
