Reality TV star and actor Saga Adeoluwa, popularly known as Saga Adeolu, has achieved a major milestone in his filmmaking journey as his debut production Falling Notes has been officially selected for the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF) in Canada.
The actor shared the news excitedly on Instagram, posting the film’s poster and reflecting on what the moment means to him. According to him, the project represents a long and emotional journey from idea to execution, describing it as his “baby project” and first major production effort.
Saga explained that Falling Notes came with several challenges across all stages of production, from pre-production to filming and post-production.
He also revealed that the film’s premiere and release process tested his patience and commitment, adding that the experience was intense enough for him to consider sharing it in a future podcast.
In his words, the journey behind the film was not an easy one, as many people doubted his decision to produce a cinema-level project intended for YouTube distribution.
He recalled how critics questioned the budget and the scale of the production, while others believed a full-scale premiere for such a project was unnecessary. Despite the doubts, Saga pushed forward with his vision.
He also used the opportunity to appreciate his production team, acknowledging their effort in bringing the project to life. According to him, the success of the film’s selection is a shared victory that reflects the hard work of everyone involved.
Falling Notes first premiered in Lagos in October 2025 before being released on YouTube via Saga Adeolu TV. The romantic drama tells the story of a young musician navigating fame, love, and personal growth.
The film features performances from Saga Adeolu alongside Eso Dike, Sophia Chisom, Inem King, Osereme Inegbenebor, and Folarin Agunbiade.
The Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival, founded in 2016, is an annual event held in Canada that celebrates Nollywood and international films.
It brings together filmmakers, actors, and industry professionals from different parts of the world to showcase creative works and promote cultural exchange.
TINFF is strategically scheduled around the same period as the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), allowing it to benefit from the global attention and industry presence the event attracts each year. Over time, it has grown into a respected platform for African cinema on the global stage.
For Saga Adeolu, this selection marks an important step in his transition from reality TV fame to serious filmmaking. It also signals growing recognition for independent Nigerian productions making their way into international film spaces.
