Atiku Abubakar Reacts To Supreme Court Ruling On ADC Leadership, Send Message To Nigerians

Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President of Nigeria and prominent opposition figure, has welcomed the Supreme Court’s ruling affirming Senator David Mark’s leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the party as “our great party.”

In a statement issued on X on Thursday, April 30, 2026, Atiku hailed the judicial decision as a significant victory for democracy and the rule of law. He stressed, however, that the ruling should not breed complacency among supporters.

“Even as we welcome the Supreme Court’s firm affirmation of David Mark and the leadership of our great party, the African Democratic Congress, let no one be lulled into complacency. The road ahead remains long in our cause to take back and rescue our country,” Atiku declared.

The former presidential candidate attributed the legal success to the resilience of ordinary Nigerians who have continued to demand better governance despite numerous challenges.

“This victory belongs to Nigerians, the courageous millions who refuse to surrender their future. We thank them, and we urge them to remain steadfast, because the struggle is far from over,” he added.

Atiku used the occasion to rally his supporters and fellow opposition members, reminding them of the broader mission to reposition Nigeria for progress. He warned that the battle to rescue the nation from its current difficulties would require sustained effort and unity.

“As we press on, let this truth guide us: eternal vigilance is the price of liberty,” Atiku stated.
