According to a report by Daily Trust on Monday, April 20, 2026, suspected bandits launched a pre-dawn assault on a joint security post in Kemanji community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing at least three soldiers and leaving several others injured. The attack, which occurred around 3am, targeted a security formation comprising military personnel, forest guards and vigilantes. During the raid, the gunmen reportedly seized weapons, ammunition, motorcycles and an armoured military vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Local sources said the attackers overwhelmed the operatives despite resistance, while injured personnel were evacuated to nearby hospitals, with some referred to Ilorin for further treatment. A resident said, “They invaded the community and killed three military officers. They took their armoured vehicle along with motorcycles, arms and ammunition.” Authorities have since launched a pursuit operation into surrounding forests, with suspicions raised about possible local collaboration, although community leaders confirmed that no civilians were harmed in the incident.
