A farmer from Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, has painted a grim picture of life in communities plagued by armed bandits. Residents live in fear of nightly attacks, abductions, and the burning of farmlands, forcing them to rely on security escorts just to access their fields.
In a report by Vanguard on Sunday, November 30, 2025, the farmer explained that the attackers often arrive in large groups, heavily armed and on motorcycles. Despite the efforts of security forces, the bandits frequently escape into dense forests, making it difficult to end the cycle of violence.
He said, “We live in fear. Bandits come at night, take our children, burn our farms. We cannot go to our fields without security escort.” The ongoing attacks have disrupted farming activities and heightened insecurity in the region, leaving communities anxious and vulnerable.
