Bandits attacked the Isapa community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting 11 residents, including a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and several young children. The incident occurred on Monday when more than 20 gunmen stormed the community, firing shots indiscriminately. An elderly woman was reportedly hit by a stray bullet.
A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that seven of the abducted individuals belong to the same family. The kidnapped residents were identified as Talatu Kabiru (20), Magaji (6), Kande (5), Hadiza (10), Mariam (6), Saima (5), Habibat, Fatima Yusufu (pregnant), Sarah Sunday (22), Lami Fidelis (23, nursing mother), and Haja Na Allah (nursing mother).
According to Channels News on Tuesday 25 November, 2025, eyewitnesses said the attackers moved through the town, leaving bullet holes in walls and doors. AK-47 shells were found scattered after the gunmen fled. Police authorities have yet to release an official statement.
This attack comes about two weeks after gunmen raided the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in nearby Eruku, kidnapping 38 church members and reportedly killing three worshippers, including the pastor. The abducted members were later released. The previous attack caused panic and confusion as the attackers escaped through bush paths connecting Eruku to neighboring communities.
Authorities are yet to confirm any arrests, and residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
Security agencies are expected to intensify patrols in the area to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents.
