BREAKING: Primate Ayodele Reveals Those Behind Bandits and Kidnapping In Nigeria

In a recent video on Facebook, Popular cleric Primate Elijah Ayodele has stirred controversy following strong remarks in which he suggested that members of the Fulani ethnic group are responsible for much of the kidnapping and terrorism plaguing parts of Nigeria. His comments, made during a recent address, have generated widespread debate over ethnic profiling and the dangers of attributing national insecurity to any single group.

Ayodele, while lamenting Nigeria’s rising insecurity, stated that the nation must confront difficult truths. “We are talking about kidnapping. We are talking about killings and so on and so forth,” he said, expressing frustration over the persistence of violent crimes.

He went further to question whether Nigerians truly interrogate the sources of these crimes. “Do we really ask ourselves who are the people, the region?” he asked, suggesting that public conversations often avoid uncomfortable realities. In a comment that has drawn sharp reactions, he added, “Is it not the Fulani? They are the ones causing this kidnapping, terrorism.”

Security experts and civil society groups have already pushed back on the remarks, warning that such generalizations risk inflaming ethnic tensions at a time when unity is fragile. Critics argue that while some criminal groups include individuals of Fulani origin—such as certain bandit networks—broadly assigning blame to an entire ethnic group is dangerous and inaccurate.

However, Ayodele’s supporters say he was calling for honesty in discussing Nigeria’s security challenges, insisting that his comments were meant to highlight government failures in addressing banditry and terrorism rather than target innocent civilians.

The cleric has made headlines in the past for his outspoken views on national issues, and his latest statement is likely to intensify conversations about insecurity, ethnic relations, and the responsibility of public figures to avoid inflammatory rhetoric.
