A former Nigerian Army personnel popularly known as Soja Boy has taken a new direction in life following his dismissal from military service, officially unveiling a clothing line branded as Giran Wears.
Soja Boy transition into fashion comes after a widely circulated video placed him at the center of national debate and ultimately changed the course of his career.
Soja Boy first came into public attention after releasing a viral video in which he questioned the participation of political leaders’ families in national service. In the footage, he called on leaders to ensure their children also experience military life, saying it would give them a clearer understanding of the realities faced by soldiers on the frontlines.
The video spread rapidly across social media platforms, drawing mixed reactions from Nigerians.
While some users praised his courage and honesty, others criticized the manner in which he expressed his views, arguing that he violated military communication rules by speaking publicly while still in uniform.
Following internal review processes, the Nigerian Army confirmed his dismissal from service. His newly launched fashion label, Giran Wears, represents his entry into the creative industry, particularly streetwear fashion. Alongside the brand, he has also introduced plans for a fashion house, which he describes as a new beginning and a way to build a different identity beyond his military background.
