Primate Elijah Ayodele has advised the Nigerian government to adopt faster and more decisive measures to curb rising insecurity, cautioning that prolonged delays could deepen the nation’s security challenges.
During a recent public address, Ayodele stressed that terrorist activities and banditry must not be allowed to linger, warning that slow responses only weaken public confidence. He urged authorities to prevent the current situation from stretching beyond a short timeframe, noting that security issues tend to escalate when not addressed promptly.
The cleric encouraged security agencies to adopt a more proactive approach, warning that hesitation often gives violent groups room to operate. While speaking firmly about the need for stronger intervention, he emphasised that government operatives should demonstrate courage and clarity in their duties.
Ayodele also highlighted concerns about bureaucratic delays, stating that excessive waiting for formal processes may indirectly empower criminal elements. According to him, the country’s security strategy must prioritise timely action to safeguard communities and restore calm.
