El-Rufai Doesn’t Have The Mass Appeal That Comes Across The Same Way Buhari Had In The North —Amadi

Dr. Sam Amadi, Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, has provided insight into the political dynamics ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly regarding the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and recent high-profile defections.

In an interview on News Central TV, Dr. Amadi noted that Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai “doesn’t have the mass appeal that comes across the same way Buhari had in the North.” While acknowledging El-Rufai’s political experience, visibility, and organisational skills, Amadi stressed that building widespread northern support remains a major challenge.

He highlighted that the ADC’s success will depend not just on prominent figures but also on pairing them with candidates who resonate broadly with voters. “Strategic positioning, timing, and coalition-building will be critical,” Amadi said, adding that mass appeal and party unity are essential to convert political influence into votes.

The analyst warned that defections alone do not guarantee electoral gains. For the ADC to mount a credible challenge against established parties in 2027, it must mobilize grassroots support and ensure credibility across key regions, particularly the North.
