Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a close ally of former Minister of Transportation Chibuike Amaechi, has sharply responded to Senator Adams Oshiomhole’s recent criticisms, describing them as politically driven and misplaced. The exchange comes amid ongoing debates about Amaechi’s legacy in Nigeria’s transport and political sectors.
Oshiomhole had recently appeared on a national television program, questioning Amaechi’s decision to extend Nigeria’s rail network to Niger Republic while Rivers State infrastructure remained underdeveloped. He also downplayed Amaechi’s contribution to the All Progressives Congress (APC) victory in 2015.
In a statement reported by DAILY POST, Eze dismissed Oshiomhole’s remarks as stemming from frustration over looming political setbacks. He portrayed Amaechi as a fearless and transparent leader, committed to national development without hidden agendas. “Amaechi speaks truth to power because he has no cockroach hidden in his cupboard,” Eze said, urging critics to acknowledge the former minister’s patriotic efforts.
Eze highlighted Amaechi’s achievements in revitalizing Nigeria’s rail sector, noting that his strategic framework for expansion across the South-South, South-East, and North-East continues to influence ongoing projects. He also defended Amaechi’s past judicial decisions, emphasizing that they were necessary to safeguard constitutional governance.
While criticizing political leadership under President Bola Tinubu as ineffective, Eze called out Oshiomhole’s own controversial political history, reminding the public of his impeachment as the first national chairman of a political party by his ward.
