Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke may withdraw from seeking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship nomination for the 2026 election due to the escalating crisis within the party’s National Working Committee (NWC). This was hinted by the governor’s media aide, Oni Gbenga Lawrence, in a post shared on the governor’s official Instagram account on Monday, November 1, 2025.
According to the aide, unresolved internal conflicts at the national level have created growing uncertainty among party stakeholders, including aspirants preparing for next year’s governorship race. He explained that Governor Adeleke, who has maintained a strong focus on development projects across Osun State, is increasingly worried that the instability within the NWC could undermine a fair and credible primary process.
Lawrence noted that the governor remains committed to transparency and good governance but warned that the current leadership crisis in the PDP poses a serious threat to the integrity of the party’s nomination procedures. He added that unless the NWC resolves its internal disputes swiftly, Governor Adeleke may have no choice but to reconsider his participation in the party’s primary.
The statement has sparked discussions within political circles in Osun State, with supporters and party figures now awaiting an official position from the governor as preparations continue for the 2026 governorship election.
