Nigerian media personality Roby Ekpo has spoken about the painful end of his marriage with his estranged wife, Mayowa Lambe, during an appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast.
He explained that things started falling apart after she travelled out of Nigeria. According to him, he tried repeatedly to reach her once she arrived abroad, but communication became difficult. Calls and messages often went unanswered, and when there were responses, they were delayed or inconsistent.
Ekpo said he became emotionally overwhelmed during that period, constantly trying to reconnect while feeling ignored. Over time, he felt he was putting in more effort than he was receiving, which led to frustration and emotional exhaustion.
He also reflected on how deeply in love he was, admitting that it made him overlook important issues and warning signs in the relationship. Looking back, he believes he was too trusting and did not ask the right questions or set healthy boundaries.
Eventually, he decided to stop reaching out to protect his self-respect and emotional well-being. He described it as a moment of choosing dignity over constant emotional pain.
Ekpo concluded by saying the experience taught him a hard lesson about love, boundaries, and self-worth, and that he would approach relationships differently in the future.
In his words, “I begged and cried like, as if my life depended on it. And at some point, I was like let me walk away, let me not cry again. I was so much in love, it blinded me. If I were to turn things back on reverse, it won’t happen. I will not be stupid in love again.”
