Nigerian entrepreneur Deborah James has spoken about the challenges she faced while trying to support her husband’s Uber business, revealing that her financial contributions often went beyond initial expectations and placed a significant strain on her resources.
In an interview on the Talk-to-B podcast, James said she purchased a Kia Rio, a phone, and all operational requirements needed to start her husband’s ride-hailing venture. Despite her support, she explained that he repeatedly requested additional funds for repairs, leaving her frustrated and exhausted.
This was not her first attempt to help. James said an earlier investment involving a borrowed vehicle also ended in failure, with continuous repair costs draining her finances. She described growing doubts about whether the problems were genuine technical issues or deliberate sabotage of the ventures she funded.
“I got the car, Kia Rio. I paid for it, got a phone, met all the Uber requirements. But he kept asking for more money for repairs,” James recalled. “It became tiring, and I began to question what was going on. Most times, he didn’t even come home, making it harder to manage everything.”
