“I Don’t Want To Get Married Or Become A Mother” — Chidera Eggerue [Video]

British-Nigerian author and media personality Chidera Eggerue has stirred reactions over her comments about marriage and motherhood.

During an appearance on Daddy Freeze’s podcast, Chidera Eggerue revealed that she has no desire to get married because she believes many women lose their personal identity after becoming wives and mothers.

According to her, women often give up their dreams, careers, and individuality for family life, while men are not expected to make the same level of sacrifice.

Eggerue also spoke about the emotional and physical challenges that come with motherhood, including mental health struggles and complications during childbirth.

The writer said she does not see the need to take such risks because she is already satisfied with her current way of life.

The conversation became more controversial when she described herself as a “misandrist,” openly stating that she does not like men.

Her remarks quickly drew reactions from others on the podcast, who questioned her views and argued that she might be hiding hostility toward men under the umbrella of feminism.

Chidera Eggerue also disagreed with the traditional belief that men should automatically provide financially in relationships.

She argued that every adult, regardless of gender, should be capable of supporting themselves.

Speaking further, she insisted that pregnancy and childbirth can never truly be considered equal responsibilities because women carry the physical burden and health risks involved.

At another point during the debate, Eggerue claimed that more women are beginning to earn higher incomes than men.

However, another speaker challenged her statement by referring to international wage reports showing that women still earn less than men on average globally.

The discussion later expanded into topics surrounding beauty standards, wealth, gender expectations, and whether it is fair to make broad assumptions about men and women in society.
