I gave my life to PDP. But I have moved on, and I wish them well– Olisa Metuh

Former PDP chieftain, Olisa Metuh, has reflected on his years of commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party, saying his departure was guided by conviction rather than resentment. His comments, reported by Daily Trust on Sunday, December 30, 2025, shed light on his new political outlook and the realities he believes shape political journeys in Nigeria.

Metuh explained that political loyalty does not always translate into reward, noting that outcomes in politics are often influenced by factors beyond human control. He said many political actors assume that consistent dedication guarantees recognition, but experience has shown that success is ultimately determined by divine direction rather than strategic investment in any party.

The former PDP spokesperson highlighted that he devoted himself sincerely to the party throughout his political career, saying his identity was once inseparable from the PDP. However, he stressed that remaining in a political platform solely because of past sacrifices does not ensure future progress, especially when circumstances evolve.

Metuh added that his decision to leave the PDP should not be mistaken for animosity. He maintained that he still holds goodwill toward the party and its members, acknowledging that transitions are natural in a dynamic political landscape. According to him, political maturity involves recognising when one’s season within an institution has ended.

He concluded by reiterating that his exit was guided by faith and personal clarity, saying, “It is really not where you sow that you will reap; it is where God said you will reap that you will reap. I wish PDP well. I gave my life to PDP. But I have moved on, and I wish them well.”
