“I Have To Kneel Down Before The Fulanis, Meyetti Allah and Beg Them To Give Us Peace” —Rev Ezekiel Dachomo

In a deeply emotional account that reflects the gravity of insecurity in Nigeria’s Middle Belt, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) has revealed that he once knelt before leaders of the Fulani socio-cultural group, Miyetti Allah, to appeal for peace. His remarks were shared during a Channels Television report on Monday, December 1, 2025.

Rev. Dachomo, who has long spoken about the challenges faced by communities in Plateau State, explained that the prolonged cycle of violence had pushed him to take extraordinary steps in search of lasting calm. According to him, the need to protect lives and rebuild trust required humility and sincere dialogue, even with groups often linked to the conflicts.

He highlighted how community leaders have repeatedly pursued peaceful coexistence, despite being heavily affected by ongoing tensions. Dachomo said the continuous losses experienced by residents made it necessary to engage every stakeholder capable of influencing the situation.

The clergyman stressed that his appeal to Miyetti Allah leaders was driven by a desire to restore stability, noting that both sides must commit to peace for progress to be possible.
