If They Succeed And Remove Tinubu, They’ll Be Feared, Fear Of North Will Be Beginning Of Wisdom—Uko

The Founder of the Igbo Youth Movement (IYM), Elliot Ugochukwu Uko, has weighed in on Nigeria’s political climate ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning of major political consequences if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is voted out of office.

In an interview with The Sun published on Saturday, May 9, 2026, Uko suggested that any political coalition capable of unseating Tinubu would significantly alter Nigeria’s power dynamics and command greater influence in the country’s political landscape.

According to him, such an outcome would go beyond an ordinary transfer of power and instead send a strong message across Nigeria’s political system about the shifting balance of influence and authority.

Uko noted that the struggle for power ahead of the 2027 elections has already intensified, with major political actors fully committed to the unfolding contest.

He argued that many stakeholders have already invested heavily in the political battle and are now at a point where retreat is no longer a practical option.

“The political struggle has become intense. Key players have stepped into the ring and cannot easily withdraw midway,” he said.

He further stated that any alliance or political bloc that succeeds in removing Tinubu from office would earn lasting recognition and greater political relevance in future national contests.

According to Uko, such a victory would reshape how political power is perceived in Nigeria and influence the strategies adopted in subsequent elections.

He also warned that the growing political alignments and rivalries suggest that the 2027 race is no longer a routine political exercise but a high-stakes battle likely to determine the country’s future direction.

“If they succeed and remove Tinubu, they will be feared and respected. The fear of the North will become the beginning of wisdom. They have stepped into the ring now. They can’t go back. The APC isn’t my party,” Uko stated.
