Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has called on military authorities to explain why security forces were withdrawn from the vicinity of a secondary school just 45 minutes before a mass abduction of students. The development was highlighted by Abdul Raham Muhammad Manga, Secretary of Zuru Local Government, during an interview with Trust TV.
The tragic incident involved dozens of students kidnapped from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area. Manga described the timing of the security withdrawal as highly suspicious, urging a thorough investigation into the matter. “Why were they there and why did the security officers leave the vicinity of the school? Just 45 minutes after they left, such an incident took place,” he questioned.
While preliminary reports indicated that troops were redeployed to reinforce another area under attack, local authorities are challenging this explanation. Manga stressed that despite the claimed justification, the circumstances remain deeply troubling and “it’s still a mystery.”
