Renowned Yoruba movie actress Jumoke George has shared details about the abusive treatment she endured from her ex-husband after refusing to quit acting as he demanded. She also revealed how she eventually overcame the situation.
In an interview posted on the official YouTube channel of Biola Adebayo Ent, Jumoke disclosed that her ex-husband frequently assaulted her because she insisted on pursuing her acting career.
Recounting her ordeal, she said:
“I was already earning a living through filmmaking because my boss was paying me at that time. My husband beat me repeatedly because I refused to stop acting. I told him I would rather die than give up my career. Acting was my only source of income, and he wasn’t willing to provide me with any alternative job.”
Jumoke’s determination to continue her passion for acting eventually helped her rise above the abuse and pursue a successful career in the industry.
