Nigerian entrepreneur Deborah James has revealed the unusual and unsettling accusations she faced in her marriage, explaining that her former husband believed she was “using his glory” during intimacy. The claims came to light during her appearance on the Talk-to-B podcast.
James explained that her ex-husband became convinced that physical contact, specifically touching his head during lovemaking, could allow her to drain his “destiny.” This belief, she said, led to repeated incidents where he forcefully restrained her hands during intimate moments.
“The relationship changed completely,” James recalled. “He would hold my hands down, acting as though he was preventing harm rather than sharing a consensual moment with his wife.” She described feeling alarmed and confused by this behaviour.
The businesswoman said she confronted him about the claims, reminding him of her independent success long before their marriage. Living comfortably in Jericho, Shagamu, she emphasized that she was financially established and thriving prior to their relationship.
In her own words:
“He said I was using his glory. That’s why he was always holding my hands — to stop me from touching his head. I was shocked. I told him I was already doing well before he ever came into my life. How could I be stealing glory from someone who had nothing when we met?”
