My loyalty to the President and unwavering support for the Renewed Hope Agenda remain intact–Badaru

According to a report by Daily Post on Wednesday December 3, Mohammed Badaru, former Minister of Defence, has dismissed an online publication alleging that he resigned from office because of disagreements over military operations, describing the claim as completely untrue.

In his resignation letter dated December 1 and addressed to President Bola Tinubu, he stated that health concerns were the only reason for his decision to step down.

He also maintained that his loyalty to the president and commitment to the administration’s agenda remain firm, adding that he continues to support his party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mohammed Badaru clarified that he became aware of a circulating post on social media shortly after his resignation became public.

The post claimed he stepped aside due to discomfort with alleged military actions linked to the United States and the federal government.

According to him, the publication attempted to present his exit as a protest against government decisions, a narrative he described as misleading and unfounded.

Mohammed Badaru explained that the actual circumstances surrounding his departure had already been formally communicated to President Tinubu.

He emphasised that he had made his reasons clear from the start, noting that health considerations were the only motivating factor behind his resignation.

He added that the president had been informed directly, and the public had also received the correct information shortly after the letter was submitted.

Mohammed Badaru stressed that the claims circulating online attempted to create distrust within the government and misrepresent his relationship with the president.

He stated that he remained committed to the administration’s goals and that his support for ongoing government policies had not changed.

He also pointed out that the reports in circulation failed to present any evidence to support their allegations, reinforcing why the public should disregard them.

Mohammed Badaru further noted that his resignation should not be interpreted as disagreement with the direction of national security operations.

He expressed confidence in the country’s security institutions and reaffirmed his belief in the leadership overseeing them.

He added that his decision to leave public office was strictly personal and should not be misinterpreted as a political statement or a response to external pressure.

Mohammed Badaru concluded that he remains fully aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda and will continue to contribute to the progress of his party, especially as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He urged the public to rely on verified information and not be swayed by online posts aimed at distorting facts surrounding his resignation.

He said: “My loyalty to the President and unwavering support for the Renewed Hope Agenda remain intact.

“I also reaffirm my full dedication to the continued success of our great party, the APC, at all levels, particularly as we approach the 2027 general elections.”
