Primate Elijah Ayodele has warned against negotiating with bandits and terrorists, arguing that dialogue only encourages criminal groups. Speaking in a recent video shared on Facebook, the cleric described negotiations as a sign of weakness that emboldens violent actors.
“Then why are you negotiating? Negotiation is to tell you that we encourage you to have it,” Ayodele said, emphasizing that Nigeria should not normalize discussions with armed criminals. He stressed that ordinary citizens are suffering while perpetrators of violence continue unchecked.
The cleric urged the government to adopt a firm military response, declaring, “Negotiation is not the answer for bad people. One bullet for one bandit or terrorist. That is the answer.” He also criticized what he sees as delay tactics by authorities, insisting that immediate action is needed to protect Nigerians and uphold justice.
Ayodele further highlighted regional disparities in security responses, calling for fairness and consistency in protecting all parts of the country. “To the Nigeria government… allow the way we are giving the South. It happens,” he stated, urging authorities not to marginalize certain regions.
